I Am Weak

Forgive me, shoe gods, I have (once again) sinned. Le Objet du Désir. DANNIJO Zeppelin Boots.  Black.  Neon.  Glitter.  Cut-outs.  Combat Style.  Can you really blame me?   Love, SG Footnote:  I purchased these here, they were on sale from $325 and I ended up paying under $100.  Good times.

All Grown Up

There are days when I eschew my natural instinct, and go for the adult version of Sheela.  It’s a rare occurrence but it happens. A truly brief post this will be, I’m a few hours shy of boarding that plane for New York City.  I’m scared and excited, anxious that I won’t be as well-dressed or stylish or skinny or, you know, as good as any of those experienced bloggers attending IFBCON ~ what if I get tongue-tied and become “that” one person nobody talks to???  ARRRGGGGHHHH I have to deal with my insecurities and my fears, and try to have as good a time as I possibly can :) Love, SG p/s Outfit details ~ Harajuku top and Vintage Gold Tone Tie Necklace borrowed from Eve, Wool Pants with Leather/Buckle Cummerbund (thrifted), Vintage Gucci Doctor Bag (from my man last Valentine’s Day), Brass Spiked Cuffs (thrifted), and Suede Peep-Toe Heeled Ankle Boots with Ruffles (online)

Halfway Between Yellow And Green, And Everything In Between

“Chartreuse, the only liqueur so good they named a color after it” ~ Death Proof, a Quentin Tarantino flick. I do believe I lit up my surroundings with this outfit.  It’s all sorts of colourful, is it not?  There’s an entire parade going on yet it seems to work (that’s what I’m going with, anyways).  Eye-popping hues, effusive prints, stained glass effects, Bollywood cuff, oh and the hair.  Let’s not forget about the hair. Gah.  I’m still squinting, damnit. And then, there were those shoes.  I fell in love with them the moment I laid eyes upon those cathedral stained glass heels with that Royal Blue Suede upper.  In fact, my infatuation stretched across the purchase of two pairs, the second being with Black Suede.  Yes, insert sheepish grin here, I tend to do that.  Purchase things in multiples.  Particularly when it comes to shoes.  As though you didn’t already know that by now. Purple Wolf Head Pendant fashioned from Clay.  It’s from this amazing store called The Rogue & The Wolf which is in …

Sartorial Sense & Sensibilities

I’ll come clean. I’m so NOT a button-down crisp shirt type of woman.  I never have been and I’ve never contemplated the notion of defecting to any other camp of thought.  So you can imagine the sensation of dread I experienced when I read the details of the Independent Fashion Bloggers Project for this week.  Yes, IFB Project #80 ~ Menswear, For Everyone. ~ insert cringe, a second cringe, and a third for good measure ~ Does it thus come as any surprise that I’m turning in my outfit post based on the theme at the 11th hour way past the deadline? Cut me some slack.  I’ve had chronic insomnia for over 20 years now, and didn’t sleep much the night before. Finally coaxed a smile out of me, huh.  Hey hey, I changed my lippy for this shoot :) instead of my usual Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain in Lovesick (I love you, Emma Stone), I’ve got on Cover Girl’s Matte Lipstick in #330 Divine.  It’s my latest to-go hue.  I like how …

Monday Mix (First of 2013 And I’m Late)

Sue me :D (from top to bottom) B&W Silk Chiffon Shift from Luminaa, just an incredible work of art in the form of a Felted Fox de Luxe Scarf from Celapiu, an avant garde Faux Black Leather with Crochet Bag from the talented hands of VandH; and, BE STILL MY BEATING HEART, a visual feast from Nortin, shoe gods from Greece, purveyors of custom-made opulence for the feet. And just so you know, I’m adding all these to my list of I’LL DIE BEFORE I DON’T PURCHASE THESE pieces for 2013. Love, SG

I Love You, Cake Boy

Life’s little surprises has brought me into the wonder realm of two really cool designers from Latvia, Inga and Irena, who collectively fabricate some of the most quirky and whimsical and charming garments ever.  You can view their pieces here. I’ve long admired their work yet for some (unfathomable) reason, bit the bullet just a few months ago.  This piece is one of them.  Please ignore the quasi Titanic pose.  I have NO idea why I did that. Meet Cake Boy, a poncho cum tunic cum top cum wearable-fantasy-come-true.  He’s this fitted tunic thingy, tapering into a slim, sharp silhouette, and made ever so billowy with the addition of those voluminous sleeves.  Totally ABBA. I felt these Velvet Heel Booties in SCREAMING FIRE ENGINE RED with spikes and studs were the only pair worthy of Cake Boy.  And yes, there are those ever faithful Yoga Pants from Nike ~ again.  Yes, I wear ‘em all the time because they’re comfort personified (and rather flattering too, I must say).  And yes, I do change my pants …

Acquisitions, Acquisitions, Acquisitions

Let me clarify that I am NOT a brand snob.  Nope, nope, nope.  I love and covet, with equal levels of lust, both indie labels as well as haute couture treasures.  And, let’s be honest, most of us can’t afford to dish out that sort of money for luxury pieces, even as we continue to live in hope.  Which is why the accessibility proffered by the likes of Etsy and eBay are priceless beyond, well, price tags. This authentic and genuinely amazing Vintage Vivienne Westwood Anglomania Denim Jacket was a gift from my man for Christmas. So too this glorious Fabric + Snakeskin + Crocodile Bag from Cavalli.  I am blessed to have married someone who understands and indulges in my “hoarding”.  Both the Westwood and Cavalli were purchased here. Now this beautiful Isabel Marant Mesh Tank Dress isn’t vintage but it’s gorgeous and so versatile.  Can you believe this is my very first garment from the House of Marant?  Yes, I am hanging my head in shame.  Purchased from a diehard aficionado of IM …

Monday Mix (Final Line-Up Of Frou Frou For 2012)

Ah, to own even a single item from this week’s Monday Mix.  Le sigh.  Le sigh of infinite bliss. Horton Hears A Who, And Razza Was His Name-O

I am, it would appear, quite capable of far more corniness than I give myself credit for. Here I am, attempting to look all nonchalant as I attempt to strut with ease.  Like I’ve been doing this all my life instead of a mere two months.  And I must be really sleepy since I’ve used the same word twice in one sentence. The strapless black dress is, in fact, a skirt.  I suppose there “are” perks to being really short.  Over this, I’m wearing a luscious Dark Umber Cardigan from Forever21.  I like that the plush Faux Fur Collar is detachable – this means I’ll get far more wear out of this piece living in Houston than I would have had it not been quite so nifty. And the neckpiece, my friends, is what this post is all about.  It’s what every word I’ve spewed thus far has been leading up to.  That KICKASS Vintage Luke Razza Elephant Head Necklace.  It is breathaking.  It is huge.  It is in your face   It is, I repeat, …
