73 Questions With, Well, Me

imageFor this exclusive blog interview (in fact, it’s her very first interview, ever), Sheela Goh answers quite a few questions (no diva tantrum here, she answered all 73 of them), and is candid about practically everything. Here, the complete list of questions from the interview. What would your answers be?

~ written in response to the Daily Post’s Weekly Challenge Theme, Interview ~

    • #3 is quite a common question for West Malaysians to ask East Malaysians a.k.a people of Borneo. Imagine the witty replies you get to come up with when asked!😛

      • Being from Kuching in Sarawak and having worked in Singapore for well over a decade, I can tell you most emphatically that EVERY SINGLE Singaporean and West Malaysian (occasionally those from Hong Kong, Korea and Japan too) whom I’ve encountered has asked me three questions – (1) You speak English? Oh wow!! (2) Do you live on tree tops still? (3) Do you hunt and eat raw meat? I would always say, in quick succession, I do speak English and far better than you, I can tell. Then #3. And conclude with I quite fancy a rare steak😉 where are you from, Jill? Your uniform looks all too familiar🙂

      • Every single Singaporean and West Malaysian? Gosh what odd luck you have. I have never been asked these questions before, though my friends have encounter these experiences.

I remember when I went to university, I told my coursemate I was from Malaysia and they say “Cuti cuti Malaysia!” I was oddly surprise at how we are able to promote Malaysia to the rest of the world, yet some of the countries closest to us doesn’t quite understand us.

I’m from Miri, and that is not a uniform. It’s my formal workwear and the background is my office. It was a random shot when we were celebrating a farewell party during lunch.

      • Well, the sheer fact that I thought you were wearing a pinafore should alert you as to how much older I am🙂 and the providence behind how vastly different our circumstances are. I completed high school in 1990 and up until a good ten years ago, the situation was as I’d described. Here in the States, it depends on the city and the extent of cultural exposure. Back to first impressions, Asians truly look way younger than they actually are😉 have a good one, Jill.

  1. Hahaha #3 cracked me up because I can relate. I get asked a lot of questions like that (and worse) when someone gets to know where I’m from. I would borrow your idea but I wouldn’t be able to pull off even 10 I think. Ha!

So, um… I’m thinking bloghop interviews sometime soon? Forming a group would be nice.
