Pinkadoodledoo

Pepto-Bismol, cotton candy, bubblegum, Molly Ringwald flicks, panthers and slips – what do these seemingly random things have in common? Why, the colour Pink but of course. Despite appearing delicate and charming, pink lipstick can be quite the challenge to wear. Choose the wrong shade and one could oh so easily end up looking either like a clown or a Crayola-town mascot.

I’m all for the bold and the dramatic (read: Reds and Dark Purples) but more often than not, you’ll find me with pink lipstick. That and with Valentine’s Day about to descend upon us, complete with roses and scents and all things lovey and dovey, I wanted to share my current pink faves. Which do you like best?

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Prague. I love love LOVE this line of gloss-meets-lipstick hybrid. I love how it goes on like a lipstain with the richness of colour akin to that of a creamy lipstick. It’s majorly pigmented as you can see, goes on beyond smoothly and and and, just go buy it. I have almost every shade (at $5.99 a pop, my wallet cringes not) but this, Amsterdam and Transylvania are right there on the top of my list.

Next is the Givenchy Gloss Interdit Ultra-Shiny 06 called Lilac Confession. Look at how Barbie-esque that is. It’s a little on the viscose side but I’m fine with that given the sheen achieved. The consistency of this particular little number makes me categorise it as more of an uber creamy lippy as versus a gloss and at almost $40, it does veer towards the pricey side but hey, it’s a Givenchy.

Meet Doll from the NYX Creme Lipstick range. It’s skewed towards mauve and dusky rose, which works perfectly for me, and it goes on like the smoothest of buttery lippies, if that makes sense. Look at how rich that colour is, and after only one coat too. I must say that it’s also the most moisturising of the lot and you really can’t bitch about that $3.99 price tag.

Next is one of my oldest (and very well-loved) colours namely Cover Girl’s Siren. It brightens up the face instantly and makes me feel all bubbly and giggly and happy. What more could one ask from a lipstick? Well, for one, Cover Girl could bring it back. Sad face.

And lastly, there’s this gamine little number also from NYX, but from the matte range this time, called Audrey. She’s quite the Lolita. While it might be matte, it’s certainly not in the least bit drying, and I’m adoring how smoothly it went on.

So tell me, what’s your go-to lip colour? Are we talking about Reds? Or Browns? Maybe Nudes?

Love, Sheela

p/s for the rest of my face, it was MAC Mineralise Loose Powder in Medium, L’oreal Waterproof Mascara, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and NARS Blush in Orgasm. Yeah, I forgot concealer and primer and sigh.
