The Fab 40s In Jumpsuits

I’ve always been a late bloomer.

Some call it being late to the party while others say it’s all about following the beat of your own drum. I like that. The same mantra applies to the clothes I choose to wear.

Despite their universal appeal, I’ve can safely reveal that jumpsuits rank alongside rompers and peplums as well as pencil skirts and kitten heels as still being on my attempt to-wear bucket list. And herein lies the beauty of a collaborative effort. Being part of a group which takes turns in determining themes means that one can only choose what one prefers once, and only once. Thereafter, you’re pretty much at the mercy of the whims and fancies of the other members, and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing as I’ve come to discover with The Fab 40s.

It was Ann’s turn this month and she decided we ought to shine the spotlight on jumpsuits. I confess. I was at my wit’s end. I do not own a single jumpsuit and up until Ann’s email telling us of the theme, I had zero intentions of purchasing one let alone being seen by the world wide web audience actually wearing a jumpsuit. But in the spirit of being a good sport, I hunted high and low, and I found one, put it on and styled it with an asymmetrical plaid cardigan. While it didn’t look too bad, it was just lacking the fun and zany and free-spirited bit that was me.

Truthfully, I was close to despair when I found it. The jumpsuit. The one which spoke to me. And spoke of me, and plastered an enormous smile on my steroid-bloated face (sigh, that’ll take another 3, 4 weeks to subside but hey, at least my face is completely healed now).

Does anyone else notice how they’re all wearing Black and/or Blue save for me???  And that they look super duper F-A-N-T-A-B-U-L-O-U-S?? Now, I might know the answer to this question but how about you? Do you love jumpsuits? I’m still on the fence but I believe I’m slowly becoming a convert.

Love, Sheela

  1. I love you in your ‘flying squirrel’ jumpsuit Sheela I think it really sums up your personality & style. I’m also loving how we’ve each styled a jumpsuit so differently to incorporate our own styles & lives. Thanks again for getting the group started.
    Jane xx

  2. LOL what a perfect name for that jumpsuit. I took a while to get on the jumpsuit bandwagon but when it happened a couple of years back I was a convert. They are like wearing PJs outside.

I felt like I should have virtual confetti come down on the people after the 100 link up mark! 🙂

    • But is it not perfectly apt, Jess??? It’s chic but edgy, a little on the wild side (which is perfectly me ) and uber comfy. Win win, as you put it (she says as she flings confetti) xoxo

  5. Sheela, your jumpsuit is fly!!!! You rocked it. And, you paired it up with the perfect shoes and accessories….Love. Love…xoxo

    • Thanks so much, Tatyana. Funny thing is, I had a completely different jumpsuit all planned out. In fact, I even had photos taken of it (which reminds me I need to write that post today) but it wasn’t quite me🙂

This is so you Sheela and so fun, thanks for making me smile, I love it! And by the way: I’ve always been a late bloommer as well (apart from when I got married at 21 lol). Love, Kirsten xx

    • Oh hahahaha yeah, getting married at 21 doesn’t quite fall under the late bloomer category but hey, who cares? You’re happy, you’re together, it makes sense. As for my flying squirrel, I think I understand now why my friends categorise my style as being free-spirited🙂

    • Thank you so much, Laiyin. I know it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I enjoyed myself thoroughly wearing it, clearly GRIN
