On A Coral Note

It behooves me

to explain the title of this post.

Encouraged emboldened by my recent foray into a far more panoramic world than I’m generally used to, I thought why not kickstart the lunar new year by grabbing the colour bull by its horns, yes?  Sidenote:  this post was originally slated to run yesterday, the 8th, but as fate would have it, my scheduling went somewhat awry and consequently, it makes its appearance today instead.

Back to dabbling in colour.

It really feels odd that it’s taken me so long to become comfortable with wearing bright colours.  I might have mentioned this before but prior to the last 10, 12 months, my palette was comprised of black, black and, oh, black. It’s been that way since I was 13. Grey was as rainbow technicolour as I got.

Look at me now.

Even my hair is saying it loud and proud.  I think it might very well rival my dress in terms of vivacity and hue, wouldn’t you say?

That’s always been me, though, as in when I’ve made up my mind to do something, I go all out.  No half-hearted attempts.  Just full throttle.  It’s the very same mantra I’ve applied throughout my entire life, I suspect.

I’ve been told I’m an extremist.

And yes, I confess, moderation is a concept relatively foreign to me.  I’ll be the first to come right out and admit that I simply don’t know how to operate in moderation.   I attack everything with gusto, with my entire spirit, with every ounce of passion in my 5ft tall body.

As it is with everything else, there’s good and bad in that sort of mentality.

Are you like me?  Do you tend to go off on the deep end and be an extremist too?  Or are you of the enviable sort, wonderfully adept at pacing yourself and smoothly keeping things balanced?  If you’re of the latter category, you really ought to consider bottling it up, filing for a patent and then make oodles selling it to extremists of the world #me

Love, Sheela

    • Want to know a secret, Rachael? I love the cut of this shapeless dress so much that I bought it in several colours. Black, Teal and, of course, Coral 🙂 xo

I do love to throw myself into (and out of) things as well, but on the surface I am a serene moderate. this coral dress is gorgeous for you, as are all those pretty rings. You just keep doing you, Sheela, you’re a star. xo

    • Hahahaha I love how you phrased that, Patti, on the surface I am a serene moderate. You certainly give of an exceedingly zen vibe. Ever calm and composed 🙂 you’re such a star to me too, incredibly poised and confident always xoxo

    • Ahhhh my man would say that’s such a waste of good pasta GRIN but I get your analogy, Suzanne, and I understand. I shoot arrows into the dark and hope something will hit bullseye but truly, I need to incorporate balance into my life. I think things will get accomplished better that way and certainly efficacy levels would rise so there you have it. Far easier said than done, eh? xoxo

Sheela, I have three main loves here.
    First.
Your shoes!!! I am loving their super-fierceness. They look like they could attack at any moment!
    Second.
Your colour palette. Coral, nude and gold are GORGEOUS on you.
Blinged up to the max, dripping in gold, like a modern-day Cleopatra.
    Third.
Your skin! It is beautiful, not a line, not a wrinkle.
I am not at all envious…nope, not a bit! :oP

  4. I’m definitely an extremist too. Such is life. I could benefit from some more pacing.

Your shoes are killer and the photography in this is excellent! Great work!

    • I could do with some coaching in pacing myself too, Nina. But then again, I wonder how much of my personality would change as a result, and if I would like those changes at all. I’ve gotten so used to being this way 🙂

Thank you so much!! I love my shoes, clearly 🙂 and credit must go to my 16 year old, Eve, who takes almost all of my photos. She’s amazing.
