The Fab 40s In Lace

Am I the only woman in the world who doesn’t own a single item of White (or Cream) Lace. I mean, I thought I did, but apparently I didn’t. Or so it appeared at the very beginning.   You can, therefore, imagine my consternation when the deadline for The Fab 40s series drew close (as in the day before) and I hadn’t gotten my act outfit together. Naturally, I went into panic mode. What’s a woman to do? Rummage. That’s what. And rummage I did until I found this charming little Lace Top, in white, with a beautifully beaded collar. Success. Yes, I do smile. Sometimes. My second pair of Joggers, also from Forever 21. It seemed the perfect complementary piece to the intricacy (and somewhat busy details) of that Lace top. And by the by, I’ve been dying to wear those heels for the longest time. Snakeskin Ring is from Karla Deras while Snakeskin Cuff is from Unearthed on Etsy. I have a thing for exotic skins, if you haven’t noticed that by now. …

The Fab 40s In Gingham

Gingham comes from the Malaysian word Genggam meaning stripes. Well, I’m Malaysian. And no, I had absolutely no idea. Clearly, I can be completely clueless at times.   I’m not certain how it’s pulling things off that smoothly but has anyone else noticed how gingham manages to be all at once utterly all-American yet evocative of the South of France, particularly during those beachy, carefree moments of the ’50s/’60s? I mean, seriously, think the picnic print and both Dorothy as well as Bardot come to mind, yes? Despite a somewhat retro appeal, gingham is undeniably enjoying quite the revival these days. From runways to real life, and everything in between, the pattern appears to be making a massive comeback, and I’m not complaining. Especially when right after Dawn Lucy chose gingham as this month’s theme for The Fab 40s, I discovered this spectacular pair of heels in Blue and White, yes, gingham!! I didn’t really need an excuse to wear them but hey, any reason to shop for a matching dress was very welcomed. Ahem. …

The Fab 40s In Jumpsuits

I’ve always been a late bloomer. Some call it being late to the party while others say it’s all about following the beat of your own drum. I like that. The same mantra applies to the clothes I choose to wear.   Despite their universal appeal, I’ve can safely reveal that jumpsuits rank alongside rompers and peplums as well as pencil skirts and kitten heels as still being on my attempt to-wear bucket list. And herein lies the beauty of a collaborative effort. Being part of a group which takes turns in determining themes means that one can only choose what one prefers once, and only once. Thereafter, you’re pretty much at the mercy of the whims and fancies of the other members, and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing as I’ve come to discover with The Fab 40s. It was Ann’s turn this month and she decided we ought to shine the spotlight on jumpsuits. I confess. I was at my wit’s end. I do not own a single jumpsuit and up until Ann’s …
