My Heart & Soul Belong To Soles

Give a woman the right pair of heels. Then sit back, and watch her conquer the world.   Amen, sista. I never thought I’d ever credit something so insightful to Ms Monroe GRIN insightful and evergreen with a dose of such unexpected humour. But it’s so true, yes? The perfect shoe design equipped with an equally perfect heel height makes for taking the most empowered of strides, figuratively as well as metaphorically.  As Michael always tells me, I am my sexiest when I’m feeling comfortable.  After all, comfort begets confidence, and confidence is the consequent vessel to sire a sense of power, a sense of empowerment.  A sense of f*ck you, self doubt, not today. T H E P O W E R O F A G O O D S H O E I’ll be the first to admit to being somewhat obsessed with shoes, I mean, I think the whole world knows that by now so it truly doesn’t behoove the situation for me to even pretend that 99% of my outfits are …

Monday Mix (First of 2013 And I’m Late)

Sue me 😀 (from top to bottom) B&W Silk Chiffon Shift from Luminaa, just an incredible work of art in the form of a Felted Fox de Luxe Scarf from Celapiu, an avant garde Faux Black Leather with Crochet Bag from the talented hands of VandH; and, BE STILL MY BEATING HEART, a visual feast from Nortin, shoe gods from Greece, purveyors of custom-made opulence for the feet. And just so you know, I’m adding all these to my list of I’LL DIE BEFORE I DON’T PURCHASE THESE pieces for 2013. Love, SG

The Steadfast Tin Soldier & The Love Skull

Once upon a time, quite a few years ago, a little Chinese girl from Borneo sat alongside her older brother and listened enraptured as their mother read to them aloud, a tale from Hans Christian Andersen ~ The Ballerina & The Steadfast Tin Soldier. Fast forward close to three and half decades later, and that story has stayed with me.  Perhaps it’s because of the underlying note of self-sacrifice, doom and tragedy which are not characteristic of children’s stories.  The absence of white picket fences and happy ever afters.  And, of course, that subtle nuance of desire as well as passion which had, prior to that, been completely lacking from any Andersen composition.                                                                                                                             …

Circling The Issue

My post titles are becoming increasingly corny.  Sigh. Nothing too avant garde nor adventurous here.  Just serviceable classic pieces given fresh twists with cut, colour and finish.  And the proverbial accessory.  All in the name of grocery shopping. A charming (dark brown) polka dotted button down shirt in the most delightful shade of Dusky Rose, quite likely my favourite shade of pink.  Worn with intense violet skinny jeans and supremely spiked ankle booties.  I have those in practically every shade.  Don’t tell the man. The sweetest of pachyderm arm candy. Do you like seeing spots? Love, SG
